Keyword Spy
When you use Google’s AdWords program to advertise via PPC it takes a lot of time to determine what keywords are turning a profit for you. And time equals money. That’s where Keyword Spy comes in to help you out.
One of the features of Keyword Spy is that it allows you to see what keywords your competitors are bidding on within Google’s AdWords program and best of all, it also tells you which of those keywords are likely turning a profit for your competition.
In other words, Keyword Spy allows you to do away with all of the testing yourself and actually see what keywords are working for others.
Keyword Spy does offer a free and a paid version for you to use. For the sake of this example, I’ll be using my own personal paid version of the program and together we’ll run through the process of researching a Clickbank product.
To start off with, let’s first see what products are being promoted within Clickbank on the Google AdWords network.
First, I’ll login to Keyword Spy and then choose Affiliate Intelligence from the Research tab.
Next, I’ll scroll down to find all of the affiliate networks that Keyword Spy supports and then find Clickbank which happens to be in the number one position.
I can see that ClickBank has over 7,000 products being promoted with over 2 million ads being run on Google’s AdWords program. So let’s take a look at which of these products is the most popular product being promoted. I’ll do that by simply clicking on the number underneath “Total Products”.
On the next screen I see that Reverse Phone Detective is the most advertised program on AdWords that comes from the Clickbank affiliate network.
Next, I’ll click on Affiliate Ads next to the product name.
Keyword Spy will then give me a listing of all of the ads currently being run on Google’s AdWords network that are promoting this product. I can sort this list by clicking on the arrow next to ROI which tells me which of these ads are getting the most return on their investment.
The first listing tells me that the phrase “phone detective” is getting a pretty good return on investment, it’s searched on 27,100 times a month it’s average CPC or cost per click is $3.03 and that the ad has been seen for 97 out of 100 days.
This is important because typically the longer an ad is run, the more likely it’s making money for the advertiser.
This information alone tell us that the ad is likely creating a profit for this advertiser.
Next, if we click on the button to the right that has the label “KW” we can see all of the keywords that this person is using on this ad and from this data can further see that they’re using 43 keywords only one of which is likely making a significant return on investment.
We can continue this process with the ads that have the highest ROI and then by clicking to see what keywords they’re using within their ads.
Additionally, each time we look at their keywords, we can see at a glance which of those keywords are actually promising. In the case of the second listing, we can see that they’re using 100 keywords and that quite a few of them are returning a decent ROI.
Now why this is important to you is because if you were to promote this product yourself, you now have available to you with the help of Keyword Spy, the ability to see what keywords are actually more likely to make you money.
Furthermore, by clicking on the “i” icon on the right we can also see where the link in the advertisement is taking someone who clicks on that ad.
As an affiliate, this information from Keyword Spy alone will not only save you time but can also save you a significant amount of money in the process.
